In the decoration of ‘strategic’ rooms in the house, such as the kitchen and bathroom, ceramic tiles hold a leading position. Despite the fact that this material is considered standard, its practical advantages and diverse design allow it to maintain the top spot in customer ratings.
As a rule, for small spaces it is better to choose small elements, but sometimes even in a tiny bathroom large tiles look very impressive. Kitchen backsplashes are most often made of medium-sized ceramics, and mosaic motifs are also very popular. However, the option of tiling the entire kitchen is no longer relevant – much more interesting and beautiful is the combination, for example, of painted or plastered surfaces with a tiled wall or even a section of it.
In general, combining different types of finishes in one room is at the peak of fashion today. But while in the kitchen you can successfully combine plaster, wallpaper, paint with ceramic tile decor, in the bathroom different types of tiles themselves are most often used. For example, three walls are decorated with large square elements, and one with smaller rectangular ones, thus creating an accent in the interior. Mosaic for the bathroom also looks great – monochrome, variegated, multi-colored.
The technique of color gradation is considered super fashionable, where at the bottom, near the floor, the shade is dark, and gradually lightens towards the ceiling. This effect can also be used unconventionally – not from bottom to top, but vice versa, or even vertically.
In addition to walls, any room also has floors, which are successfully decorated with the same ceramic tiles. However, floor tiles have higher requirements – they must be stronger and non-slip.
