Due to the current economic and political situation, the need to protect information of both commercial and personal nature is becoming relevant for many. There are a great many channels of information leakage. One of them is recording telephone conversations.
Monitoring telephone conversations is one of the most common methods of industrial espionage. Moreover, this method is often used by attackers and criminal elements. Diverse systems that allow both contact and contactless connection to the telephone line, as well as special telephone bugs and digital recorders, make it possible to obtain important information at relatively low cost.
Protection against eavesdropping by such systems can be carried out using special devices that can be divided into several types.
1. Telephone line status indicators inform the subscriber about situations when important information cannot be transmitted. And using statistical data on such situations, one can understand that an information interception device is connected to the telephone line.
2. Protection against eavesdropping using physical protection means, such as neutralizers, jammers, as well as filters and physical search devices for listening devices, represent the second type of security devices.
3. The third type of devices represents means of guaranteed protection. These are devices that create noise and speech-like interference on the telephone channel, the so-called 'maskers', as well as scramblers and digital vocoders, which are devices that provide semantic information protection.
A masker is a generator of dynamic interference in which speech drowns and becomes distorted. Such reliable protection allows recording telephone conversations, but it is not possible to decipher and understand the essence of the conversation.
Protection with scramblers and digital vocoders prevents interception of telephone conversations over both wired and wireless lines.
And although the acquisition of the aforementioned devices requires additional costs, the losses from the loss of important information can significantly exceed the costs of purchasing such equipment.
