In recent years, many of our compatriots have settled in Spain<\/em><\/p>
To obtain a visa, the following basic documents are submitted to the embassy: a copy and original of the foreign passport, documentary proof of payment for courses at the university, documentary proof of enrollment in the courses, confirmation of housing during the study period, as well as financial support for living; medical insurance and certificate; certificate of no criminal record; information on marital status; certificate from work and a copy of the diploma.<\/p>
All documents, of course, must be translated into Spanish and notarized. To obtain documents from the university, you can go to Spain on a tourist visa, open a bank account, pay for the courses, and get all the necessary documents and insurance. If you don't hit a holiday period, you can manage all this in a week.<\/p>
How to get a 'student residence' (the local name for a study visa), whether you can stay after graduation, how to live during studies – these questions worry many.<\/p>
Tarjeta de estudiante (that same 'student residence') can be issued for only one year, and years lived on such a visa do not count towards the total period for obtaining a residence permit. But after three years of living on a student permit, one can seek an 'adult' residence.<\/p>
Engaging in work on a student permit is also prohibited, but it is possible to get a study permit with a few hours of work. You won't earn much from such work, of course, but you can eat and even buy concert tickets<\/a> or go to a club.<\/p>
