Developed countries of the Pacific Rim are preparing for a rapid increase in the volume of intellectual immigration
Emigrants from these countries will also head to Canada, which will become the most attractive center for intellectual migration in the Northern Hemisphere. The best minds of Latin America, who previously aimed for the United States, will also flow to Canada. In total, the predicted increase in the Canadian scientific community due to immigrants could be more than 150%.
In Europe, intellectual migration will primarily target Spain and the Scandinavian countries. Highly qualified migrants from Latin America and North Africa will mainly pour into Spain, ultimately more than doubling the ranks of the scientific community. Scandinavian scientific centers will primarily attract the best minds from Eastern European countries, through which the scientific elites of Sweden and Denmark will grow almost twofold.
In Germany, a moderate wave of intellectual migration is expected, which, depending on immigration policy, could increase the army of scientific workers by 25 to 55%. As 'Russkaya Germaniya' writes, the main influx of migrants to Germany is expected from Poland, Hungary, and Russia. At the same time, the Czech Republic will become the only country in the post-socialist space that will itself begin to attract foreign scientific forces.
The greatest intellectual losses in Europe are expected for Moldova, which in the near future may lose every second scientific worker. In Ukraine, their number may decrease by a third, and in Russia by almost one fifth. Estonia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan are the only countries on the territory of the former USSR that may avoid a serious brain drain abroad.
