The new Czech law on the stay of foreigners provides for new fees
As reported by Vinegret.cz, if currently foreigners pay 2500 crowns only in case of a positive decision on the application (for issuing a biometric card), then from August 15 they will be required to pay money already when submitting documents.
From that date, the Ministry of the Interior will split the existing fee of 2500 crowns into two parts: 1500 crowns for processing the application (without money, the documents simply will not be accepted) and 1000 crowns for issuing a biometric identity card. In case of refusal to grant temporary or permanent residence, the money will not be returned to the applicant, and upon re-submission he will be forced to pay 1500 crowns again.
The innovation applies only to citizens of third countries (not members of the European Union) and almost completely copies the system of visa fees that has long been used for processing short-term Schengen and long-term Czech visas. Whatever the result, the ministry will receive remuneration for processing the application.
From mid-August, administrative fees for different types of residence permits will be as follows:
As today, they will be paid in the form of revenue stamps (kolky). At the same time, applicants for a temporary residence permit (povolení k přechodnému pobytu) and family members of EU citizens applying for permanent residence will still be exempt from administrative fees.
