Chemical pumps

Depending on how aggressive the working fluid is and its parameters of density, temperature, and composition, a suitable model with its own characteristics of strength and material of manufacture is selected.

Earlier, gray cast iron was often used to manufacture the flow part of such devices. Currently, this material, on the contrary, is practically not used for these purposes, as it is not very resistant to aggressive media, and also, during prolonged use, it begins to contaminate the pumped liquid with iron ions. It has also become known that, according to technical requirements, all such pumps must allow significant suction pressure, and this material, unfortunately, cannot provide that.

The area of application of such devices primarily includes:

chemical,
petrochemical,
paint and varnish,
food,
pharmaceutical,
and other types of industries.

The main types of pumps that can be present in this group include:

– horizontal, that is, those in which the axis of rotation is located horizontally. Based on this, it is clear that all other working parts operate in a perpendicular direction, and the working fluid approaches them from two opposite directions;

– vertical, that is, intended for installation in a tank in a vertical position. Such devices are most often used for rapid pumping of large volumes, as they have significant power. Such devices include various types of pumping equipment, including centrifugal submersible pumps;

– barrel, used not only for pumping aggressive media, but also for other purposes. For example, these devices can be used to pump water from large barrels, containers, and other similar tanks;

– and other types of pumps.

In addition to the fact that these devices for pumping aggressive media have a number of design features, their configuration may also differ from ordinary devices. For example, in most cases, such pumps are necessarily equipped with a dispensing gun, a flow meter, and a hose, which, like everything else, are not affected by aggressive media, that is, they are made of a special resistant material.
