In the film, the viewer can observe two rivals. One is James Hunt (played by actor Chris Hemsworth), who behaves unpredictably in life, indulges in women and alcohol. His main aspiration in life is the race, the track, the opportunity to be first. He races in Formula 2 and doesn’t think about anything else.
But then one day we see that he has a rival – Niki Lauda (played by actor Daniel Brühl). Niki realized that there was nothing for him in Formula 2. He took out a large loan from the bank to buy a seat in Formula 1. James was left out, but not for long. His best friend also buys a seat and a car to participate in Formula 1.
A great rivalry arises between James and Niki. Niki always acts by the rules, he is completely focused on the right approach to victory. Niki significantly outpaces Hunt in points, and he was taken on by the Ferrari team.
And then on one track terrible rainy weather is expected. Niki asks the drivers to postpone the race to avoid casualties. But James incites everyone to have the race anyway. At high speed, each driver can make a mistake, and that mistake can be fatal.
Niki flies off the track and crashes into a barrier. His car catches fire. There is nothing worse than a driver burning in his own car. Will Niki survive? The answer lies in watching the entire film. By the way, any film about racing can be watched online on the Internet.
Separately, it’s worth mentioning the emotional component of the film. Each of the main characters has his own woman. For James, the beauty is played by actress Olivia Wilde, and for Niki, by Alexandra Maria Lara. The drivers themselves are emotional individuals. Olivia’s character almost immediately realizes that she will not be happy next to this guy. Niki’s girlfriend rejoices in happiness when they get married. But Niki began to weaken emotionally, he became less tense and not ready for competition. He realized this, so he made a decision about who is most important to him in this life.
One can say right away that you feel sorry for the drivers' women. Separately, it’s worth mentioning Niki’s accident, when his girlfriend was ready to go with him to the end.
When James Hunt won the championship, Niki was jealous of the champion, but at the same time he was glad that the spirit of competition existed. However, James after the victory decided to enjoy life itself, because if you don’t enjoy it, what is the victory for? As much as Niki didn’t want it, James ceased to be his rival – he no longer needed that.
