Tourism activities of Max Polyakov
Max Polyakov became interested in geography as a teenager. True, it was not so much an interest in the location of states and climate zones as a desire to immerse himself in the lives of people from other countries and levels of the social pyramid. But such subjects were not taught in schools at that time, and he had to call his hobby geography.
For many years he traveled in an armchair, and only as a student was he finally able to go abroad: he managed to visit Zurich.
Zurich – European classic
The ancient trading city became a bearer of refined and self-loving Protestant culture. Zurich embodies the humanistic spirit of Europe, demonstrating a unique combination of prudence, romance and perseverance. Banks and offices peacefully coexist with cathedrals and churches. In 2012, Zurich received the status of the most expensive city in the world.

The trip fell in the summer. But it was not the summer we are used to: in the high-altitude city there is no heat and sultriness, it is always humid and a little cool.
Together with a group of tourists, Max Polyakov, accompanied by a guide, explored the city. He saw office buildings of powerful banks and walked into the narrow streets of the suburbs. Perhaps what struck him most was the peaceful coexistence in Zurich of various European nations, which outside sovereign Switzerland had more than once waged bloody wars. But here everyone is set on mutual understanding and cooperation. Four official languages are officially approved.
Learn and learn
The trip to Zurich helped Max make many interesting discoveries:
the consciousness of a person of the future must go beyond not only the family and social stratum, but also the country and time. And for this, knowledge of foreign languages is necessary;
all labor is honorable: even a small thing done with quality and soul can evoke admiration. How else to explain the popularity of museums of porcelain or children's toys;
there is no contradiction between tradition and technology.
And most importantly, the company is made by people. Max Polyakov was so charmed by the work of the guide that he decided to devote himself to tourism activities.
All into action!
Upon returning to his homeland, Max Polyakov came to the travel agency FireFly, which worked in the field of tourism and advertising. He assembled a team of excellent guides and thereby gave impetus to the development of the company. According to him, when evaluating the work of guides and forming requirements for them, he is based on the impression made on him by the guide in Zurich.
The guides each work on their own route, their knowledge goes far beyond the standard. One of the main requirements is goodwill towards all tourists without exception, even those who do not follow the rules. After all, people come not for a lecture, but expect an exciting adventure. Providing them with this is the main task of the guide. And in return for dedication to the cause, Max Polyakov willingly turns a blind eye to the additional earnings of guides who make improvements to city tour plans.
A mandatory requirement is knowledge of several foreign languages as a sign of an educated, versatile and tolerant person towards ethnic differences.
Thanks to Max Polyakov's new approach to conducting city tours in Vilnius, FireFly has increased its income by an order of magnitude over several years.
