Germany is overflowing with vacancies

Germany lacks more than a million workers

As Russkaya Germaniya notes, workers are especially needed in healthcare, logistics, construction, and the manufacturing sector. According to the study results, on average, a company can find a suitable employee only in 82 days.

At the same time, analysts note that the shortage of personnel is distributed very unevenly across the country. 940,000 of the offered vacancies are posted by companies located in western Germany. Meanwhile, firms located in the eastern part of the country offer only 270,000 job openings.

The labor shortage is especially acute in companies with no more than nine employees. According to experts, the main problem employers face in the recruitment process is the small number of responses to a vacancy, as well as the insufficient competence of candidates.

France has not managed to avoid a similar problem. French companies faced a labor shortage as early as February of this year. It is noted that companies lack specifically qualified workers. As of the end of 2017, more than 200,000 vacancies were not filled precisely for this reason – due to a lack of qualified workers.
