Fondue is delicious, quick, and very original

Classic fondue is made from wine and cheese

Fondue originates from Switzerland. The preparation methods are simple and the ingredients are ordinary, but the dish turns out very tasty and original. The main principle of cooking is not to be afraid to experiment. Today there is enough information on the Internet about fondue, which makes searching easier and allows you to learn about the cooking methods, traditions, and history of fondue.

Initially, the inhabitants of Switzerland did not have the ability to produce fresh cheese constantly, so they stocked it for the winter. Naturally, over such a long storage period, it became stale and inedible. That's when someone came up with the idea of melting cheese in wine. Thus, fondue was born.

Classic fondue is made from wine and cheese, and bread is served with it. Today there are many more varieties of this wonderful dish: chicken, tomato, chocolate fondue - and that's not the full list.

How to make fondue? You will need about 300 ml of dry white wine, about 600 grams of cheese (preferably two types), and pieces of bread or any other product that you will dip into the fondue. The cooking method is simple yet refined.

White wine is heated over a fire, then cheese is slowly added to the pot, stirring over low heat until completely melted; you can add spices (herbs, garlic, seasonings) to taste and a little potato starch for a thicker fondue. Instead of wine, you can use broth.

Fondue is served in a container that is constantly heated. If the fondue is not kept warm, the cheese will harden after a while, making it difficult to dip pieces. Therefore, it is easier to buy a special fondue set. It includes a pot, a stand, a burner, and forks.

As mentioned earlier, traditionally white bread is dipped. But you'll agree, when there's something else in the fridge, why not try that too. So people started dipping ham, vegetables, and even pineapples into the cheese. You can experiment and come up with your own recipes for this wonderful dish.

Fondue can be paired with anything: from tea and juice to strong alcoholic drinks. However, it is believed that the most appropriate drink is the one used to make the fondue.

Fondue is not only a way to quickly prepare something original but also an opportunity to gather guests and offer them new sensations, emotions, impressions. The main thing is don't be afraid to experiment. Remember: if not for the ingenuity of the Swiss, we would never have known what fondue is!
