Depending on the city and district, the quality of tap water varies, but it always contains impurities unsafe for the body: chlorine compounds, rust, bacteria and other organic contaminants, various metals (including heavy ones). Tap water is hard, soap does not lather well in it, the color is often yellowish or even brownish, and the taste often has a chlorine or bitter flavor.
It is not recommended to even wash your face with such water, let alone drink it or cook meals with it! Look at your electric kettle: that limescale, those rust flakes – that is what can enter your body. Impressive?
That is why water filters are needed. At a minimum – to obtain drinking water. It is also advisable to install a filter in the bathroom to keep skin and hair from suffering from hard and polluted water. The most thrifty homeowners install filters to purify water entering washing machines, dishwashers, and other household appliances – this significantly extends their service life.
A drinking water filter is a compact device installed under the sink. It does not get in the way, but provides your apartment or cottage with crystal-clear water. For convenience, you can cut a second faucet into the kitchen sink and run water from the filter to it, or even better – buy a mixer with a dual spout. From one opening connected to the water supply, water flows for household purposes; from the other, connected to the filter, comes a clean, filtered stream.
The most popular now are reverse osmosis filters. Their membranes allow only hydrogen and oxygen molecules to pass through. By the way, during passage through the filter, water becomes saturated with oxygen, which gives it a pleasant fresh taste.
Some filters are additionally equipped with a carbon dioxide cylinder, which allows you to obtain not only clean drinking water, but also lightly, moderately, and highly carbonated water – to taste.
Using a water filter, as practice shows, is much more economical than buying bottled water.
Filter cleaning and cartridge replacement can be done independently. But if you do not like this work or do not want to understand the device of the filter (which is quite simple, by the way), you can order quarterly maintenance: a specialist will come, quickly replace the cartridge, and perform a preventive inspection of the device.
