Deportation of foreigners in Sweden is costly

As reported by IA Rosbalt, last year the measures taken by these authorities against persons refusing to leave Sweden voluntarily cost Swedish taxpayers 32 million Swedish kronor ($4 million). In the first 5 months of 2003, state expenditures on the deportation of foreign citizens amounted to 15 million kronor (about $2 million). In 2002, the police authorities had to rent an airplane 14 times to deport a total of 53 people.
