Mild climate, friendly and polite people, European service, comfort and safety – all this is Czech Republic. Any self-respecting tourist who wants to vacation in Czech Republic needs to have the necessary minimum of information about this city. So, what is Prague? Prague is the capital of the Czech state, which it has been since the 10th century. The city occupies a fairly large area, about 500 sq. km. From the point of view of administrative-territorial division, Prague is 22 administrative districts, in Czech variant "obvody" and 55 smaller units of division – city parts.
Geographically, the city is located in the center of the country on nine hills. Prague is divided in half by the Vltava River, which is about 30 km long within the city. Just over 1 million people live in the capital. The city's population is constantly growing, mainly due to migrants. In Prague they speak Czech, but most residents also understand Slovak. And due to the large number of tourists, many residents have a good understanding of English, German, and even Russian.
The weather is favorable for travelers heading to Prague. The climate in Czech Republic is temperate continental, mild. The temperature in winter rarely drops below zero degrees Celsius, snow is extremely rare. In summer it can be hot. It rains quite often. Such mild weather is very favorable for traveling around the city and exploring local attractions.
For trips around the city, you can use the metro, tram, bus or call a taxi. Prague has a well-developed public transport network, and to travel comfortably, you need to buy a ticket-token in advance, which is valid for a certain period of time in all its types, except for taxis, where payment is by meter.
