What do Germans drink in hot weather?

Summer is also about the most diverse drinks that can be enjoyed until late autumn

As Deutschland.de notes, recently many microbreweries have emerged that make craft beer; currently in trend are also homemade cocktails, with a wide variety of flavors. This season, for example, hipsters prefer lavender and cucumber – they add them literally everywhere. We have selected four trends.

Craft beer

They challenge the German Beer Purity Law, which is already 500 years old. Of course, craft breweries use hops, malt, and yeast, but that's not enough for them. Hops with fruity aromas, special yeasts, and selected malt give their product a special character.

This tradition originates in the United States of America. In Germany, you can enjoy the taste and aroma of craft beer at specially held tastings.

Cold Brew Coffee

This is simply cold coffee. Or is it not simple? In any case, it is tasty and healthy. Cold Brew Coffee contains fewer bitter substances and acids than its hot variety. An ideal option for coffee lovers with sensitive stomachs. To prepare, use freshly ground coffee powder, which is mixed with cold water, steeped for 12 hours, and then filtered. It can be drunk with cream or ice cream.

A practical tip for those who have trouble waking up in the morning: leave a jar of Cold Brew Coffee in the refrigerator overnight and start your day with it.

Schorle and lemonades

Cucumbers have a refreshing effect not only as a cosmetic mask. Try adding, for example, a sprig of basil to cucumber juice – and you will appreciate the drink. Or another option: lavender-based lemonade. You can add a little prosecco, but it's optional. And if you don't like alcohol, you can switch to sea buckthorn or apple schorle.

Just water

A bottle of mineral water for 30 euros? Some kind of bourgeois luxury, you might say. And you would be right. But some restaurants offer a special 'water menu'. For example, you might be offered to try water from the deep sea, water with a balanced mineral content, water from raindrops or glaciers. In addition, Germany has many mineral springs that produce water of the highest quality. Finally, the most accessible and cheapest option is simply to turn on the tap.
