Hundreds of historical sites in the Czech Republic will be open to visitors for free for a week
The European Heritage Days will be held for the 14th time under the patronage of the Association of Historical Monuments of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia. So far, over 700 state-protected sites have joined the event. Of these, more than 500 will be open for free. These include not only castles, palaces, churches, monasteries, museums, theaters, historic houses, gardens, but also industrial buildings – factories, mills, breweries, craft workshops, mines.
As reported by the portal Vinegret.cz, in addition to free and reduced admission, visitors can expect a rich accompanying program – classical music concerts, unusual excursions, exhibitions, markets, creative competitions, and much more. Residents of Prague, for example, can visit the Bethlehem Chapel (Betlémská kaple), Grab Villa (Grabova vila), Libeň Castle, the Lichtenstein Palace at Prague Castle, and other sites for free.
The official opening ceremony of the event will take place in the city of Chrudim. On Friday, September 8, it will be preceded by a fire show at Žižkovo náměstí square and a classical music concert at U Vodárny square.
