Collection of paintings by Boris Fuksman amazes the imagination!
The festival is traditionally dedicated to the activities of the Russian-speaking population worldwide and building relations between the USA and Russia. But, as the diversity of nationalities of participants in the past festival showed, another goal of "Our Heritage" is dialogue between all peoples.
From year to year, the festival becomes more multinational and open to the art of the whole world, which makes it very attractive and interesting for a wide range of participants. However, the main emphasis is still on the achievements of Russian-speaking people and emigrants from the former CIS or USSR.
An interesting collection of paintings painted by Jews from Odessa at the beginning of the 20th century "came" to the festival. Unique masterpieces of avant-garde artists were brought to the festival by Fuksman Boris Leonidovich, better known as a media magnate and former co-owner of the Ukrainian TV channel "1+1".
The collection includes 86 paintings by artists who at one time organized the "Society of Independent Artists" and showed their works at various exhibitions. Yakov Pereiman, an Odessan, gathered the paintings together and took the collection to Palestine in 1920. There they disappeared from the eyes of viewers and art historians.
But recently the collection was presented at the Sotheby's auction, where it was noticed by Fuksman Boris Leonidovich and his friends and partners – Andrey Adamovsky and Alexander Suslensky. The unique collection was important for the development of art at that time. At that time, Odessa was a unifying intermediary between the very opposite cultures of Western countries and Russia, or more precisely, St. Petersburg and Moscow.
The New York festival was the first place to show this collection to the general public. Later, in winter, an exhibition of the unique collection will be held in New York, after which it will go on a world tour. Boris Fuksman plans to show the paintings not only in Kyiv and Odessa, but also in Moscow, Vienna, Budapest, London, Prague, Berlin, and other cities.
