Modern technologies allow you to secure your home during your absence
First, use modern notification tools: integrated security systems, video surveillance and fire alarm systems. According to statistics, an alarm system is the most reliable method of protection, regardless of the financial resources spent on it.
For example, fire and security systems usually consist of three main components:
- a sensor that responds to human presence, door opening, smoke or fire;
- a device that receives the signal from this sensor;
- a receiving device where a person is located to respond to the sensor signal, such as at a security control panel, on the owner's or guard's mobile phone, and the like.
Modern integrated security systems are equipped with sensors operating on different principles: infrared motion and body heat sensors, acoustic sensors for sounds of breaking glass and the like, ultrasonic or photoelectric sensors for movement in their line of access, magnetic sensors for door or window opening. In addition, modern technologies allow the use of a special system that will provide video surveillance during the owners' absence.
But even if the owners have taken all available technical measures to ensure the security of their home during their absence, it is a good idea to ask neighbors, close friends or relatives to occasionally visit the empty apartment or house. It is also useful to create the illusion of occupancy: turn on lights in the evening, turn on the TV, draw curtains, take mail out of the mailbox, and so on. By the way, except for close ones, it is better not to spread the word about your upcoming departure at all.
Also, protecting your home from uninvited "guests" can be more effective if:
- strong doors are installed, preferably double doors (in this case the inner door should open inward to hide hinges);
- windows on the first or second floor are reinforced, and grilles or protective shutters should be installed on the inside;
- on upper floors, modern plastic windows can suffice, most of which have strong glass and drill-proof fittings;
- all doors have high-quality locks.
