According to the publication, immigrants who have lived in the United States for at least 2 years and have not been absent from the country for more than 90 days will get the opportunity to join the US Army. Recruitment agencies expect that such immigrants will have advantages over many American volunteers in terms of education, professional training, and knowledge of foreign languages.
According to some data, during the first year of this program, the US Army will get a thousand recruits. They may be assigned to medical, translation, and intelligence units. All applicants will need to pass an English language exam.
As previously reported by 'Zagranitsa', the Pentagon leadership announced at the end of last year an experimental program under which not only Green Card holders but also students studying at US universities, holders of work visas, and persons who have received refugee status in the country can now enlist in the US Army. The military department decided to increase the recruitment of foreigners due to a shortage of doctors, nurses, and servicemen who speak foreign languages.
