Complying with new EU rules, British statisticians, however, express great doubt that their voluntary respondents will meticulously and honestly record such expenses in their household ledgers for a symbolic reward - 10 pounds sterling for adults and 5 pounds for children.
According to the latest report from the statistical office, calculated using the new method, the average British family spends 398 pounds sterling ($645) per week. In wealthy families with an annual income of over 56,400 pounds ($91,400), weekly expenses amount to 885 pounds, while the poor, earning less than
6,000 pounds ($9,700) per year, live on 127 pounds per week.
The main items of family spending for Britons are transport, leisure and culture, as well as the purchase of food, including non-alcoholic beverages. At the same time, for the poor, spending on food accounts for 17% of the family budget, while for the rich it is only 7%.
