According to Lenta.ru, on the black market, the 100,000-dollar banknote is worth only one US dollar. Meanwhile, a loaf of bread costs two US dollars. By the end of September 2008, the 12-month consumer price growth in the country amounted to 231 million percent.

In August, Zimbabwe carried out a redenomination, during which ten zeros were removed from the Zimbabwean dollar banknote.
