According to the decree, on the left side of the passport cover there is a chip on which information about the passport holder and data on his crossing of the state border are recorded in electronic form.
The description of the foreign passport states that on the left inner side of the cover the words “Ukraine” and “Passport” are written, a photograph is glued, and the document type, country code, passport number, first name, surname and patronymic, citizenship, date and place of birth, sex, personal number of the passport holder, date of issue of the document and the name of the authority that issued it are indicated. This page also contains the expiration date of the passport and space reserved for the passport holder's signature.
By his decree, the president also changed the design of the first page of the foreign passport, removing the inscription “the passport validity is extended until...” from the top of the page and the protective hologram from the same page. Thus, on the first page only the inscriptions in Ukrainian and English remain, asking the Minister of Foreign Affairs on behalf of Ukraine to assist and help the passport holder.
It is specified that previously issued foreign passports will remain valid until the end of their validity period.
As reported earlier, in March Viktor Yushchenko canceled changes to the foreign passport form, which had called for a digital photograph of the passport holder and the filling of all printed data in Ukrainian and English, reports.
