Wrocław University
One of the oldest universities in Central and Eastern Europe, with a 306-year history and rich traditions. Wrocław University has given the world nine Nobel laureates in physics, literature, chemistry, and medicine. Currently, nearly 38,000 students are studying here. The university has 10 faculties and about 40 specialties. The most popular are law, where a third of the university's students study. The competition for admission there is among the highest. But mastering chemistry, mathematics, and engineering is much easier. Interest in exact and natural sciences has noticeably declined recently, so the university is doing everything to attract students to them.
Interestingly, Wrocław University is one of the few in Poland where a Confucian Institute was established. Starting from October 2008, they will teach Chinese language and literature there.
Wrocław University of Technology
Confidently leads in prestigious rankings of Polish universities. Created in 1945 from the then-nonexistent Lviv Polytechnic and Jan Kazimierz University (Lviv), the university today continues the traditions of famous Polish higher schools. At Wrocław Polytechnic, more than 33,000 students receive modern technical education across 12 faculties and 26 specialties. The curricula are linked to scientific research of new technologies such as nanotechnology, biotechnology, as well as telecommunications, teleinformatics, and information systems.
Wrocław University of Economics
An authoritative research center in economics and management. For 60 years, it has been successfully developing the talents of future specialists in various branches of economics and public administration. The University of Economics in Wrocław is well acquainted with Polish business – the institution organizes training for managers and lower-level specialists.
The university has four faculties: Economic Sciences, Management, Computer Science and Finance, Engineering and Economics, and Regional Economics and Tourism. Students can also choose one of seven specialties. A diploma from Wrocław University of Economics is a kind of quality mark for employers. The university is proud that its graduates do not remain unemployed.
Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences
The origins of this university, like the entire Wrocław academic environment, are Lviv. Its independent history began in 1951 when the institution separated from Wrocław Polytechnic. Formerly a Higher School, then an Academy of Agriculture, today the University of Environmental and Life Sciences focuses its activities on education and research in agriculture. It teaches students across five faculties in 15 specialties. Among them are economics, environmental protection, biotechnology, landscape design, food industry, etc.
Lower Silesian University
This is the largest non-state academic higher education institution in Lower Silesia. It is also the best pedagogical center, the only private higher school in Poland authorized to award the scientific degree of Candidate of Sciences in pedagogy. LSW has three faculties: Pedagogical Sciences, Social Sciences and Journalism, as well as the International Institute for Advanced Study of Culture and Education.
For academic achievements, students of Lower Silesian University are provided with scholarships. In addition, they guarantee a fixed tuition fee for the entire period of education, and even offer affordable family packages.
Wrocław School of Banking
According to the ranking of the Polish weekly Wprost in 2007, the Wrocław School of Banking ranks first among non-state universities in management and business. The specialties taught are updated according to labor market needs – they train specialists in finance and accounting, management, as well as tourism and recreation.
Lower Silesian University of Public Service ASESOR
A prestigious center for training specialists in administration and management, founded in 2000. University of Management Edukacja offers training in faculties: Management, Political Science, Computer Science, International Relations, Journalism, and Tourism Business. Special attention is paid to learning foreign languages: English and German are mandatory, Spanish, French, and Italian are optional.
University of Social Sciences and Humanities (SWPS), Wrocław branch
The first and only private university providing knowledge in the field of psychology, which was awarded the highest rating for quality of education in Poland by the State Accreditation Commission. The university was awarded the title of “Student-Friendly University” by the Polish Student Parliament. The institution offers two main fields of study - European integration and psychology, and several specializations: social psychology of management and marketing, clinical social psychology, intercultural social psychology, European integration and social psychology.
