The best cities in the world (by region) were Sydney, San Francisco, Cape Town, Bangkok, Buenos Aires, and Florence, which surpassed Rome, last year's winner from Europe. In North and South America, Conde Nast Traveler readers recommend visiting Vancouver (2nd place), Quebec (3rd), Montreal (7th), Rio de Janeiro (10th), and other cities.

The best islands recognized are Hawaii's Maui, Maldives, Bermuda, and Vancouver. The best European island is the Greek Mykonos.

The best hotel in the USA is The Peninsula in Chicago, in Africa the winner is Cape Grace (Cape Town). In total, hundreds of hotels from thirteen regions competed in this category. Central America was separated into its own category for the first time. The winner from it is the hotel Casa Santo Domingo in Antigua.

Among the best resort hotels are One&Only Palmilla (Los Cabos, Mexico), Burj Al Arab (Dubai, UAE), One&Only Ocean Club in the Bahamas, and many others. This year, Conde Nast Traveler for the first time singled out Middle Eastern resorts as a separate category.
