Everything you wanted to know about car rental

Car rental is practically complete freedom of movement

Despite the fact that car rental provides many conveniences, in our country it is still in its infancy and is mainly in demand among foreigners and business people. However, there is some positive dynamics regarding our citizens as well. For example, a rental car with a driver can be used not only for a wedding or a business meeting, but also for a trip during vacation.

As for the situation abroad, car rental is quite an ordinary thing there, including for our tourists, which is very interesting. "Over there" we begin to realize that it is much more convenient to rent a car abroad than to use public transport, which even in civilized conditions imposes some restrictions on planned activities. And if we consider the language barrier, then all the dots are crossed by themselves.

With the development of internet technologies, we now have the opportunity to rent a car abroad without leaving home. And at an unfamiliar airport or train station upon arrival, a car with a driver will be waiting for us, who definitely knows the area and will deliver everyone to the right place without wasting precious vacation time on trifles. Moreover, the list of additional services of many airlines already includes car rental with a driver. Although, of course, tourists, with their short periods of stay on vacation, are more interested in renting a car without a driver. And that is understandable: the cost is lower, and the opportunity to visit interesting places without being dependent on external factors remains.

It is also necessary to take into account that each state has different rules for providing services, including car rental. It would not be superfluous to familiarize yourself with them before starting to choose a rental car with or without a driver.

As experience shows, renting a limousine is financially beneficial if you are not traveling alone. It is clear that the cost of services will depend on the type of car, rental period, season, day of the week, and of course, the exchange rate. In addition, there are numerous tariffs that can be divided into two main types: unlimited mileage with a fixed price (as a rule, they are more expensive) and a small base subscription fee plus per mileage over the limit.

It would not be superfluous to remind about the need to buckle up and not violate traffic rules anywhere. Even if you are alone on the road, remember that special cameras are constantly watching you. So a small prank can turn into a serious fine and, moreover, a fairly high probability of being put on the "black list" of negligent clients of the company, which bodes no good.

It is also worth remembering that abroad there are quite a lot of toll roads. And in general, make it a rule: before going somewhere abroad, study the traffic rules of that country. There are, however, states where traffic rules, if not completely absent, are quite blatantly ignored. An example is the beloved Egypt, where not only taxi drivers but also ordinary drivers solve the issues of moving on the roads exclusively among themselves in an incomprehensible way to a stranger, and moreover with fairly high traffic intensity.

To rent a car abroad, you need to have an international driver's license, passport, and visa. In most cases, this will be enough. Moreover, in many countries, it is allowed to rent a car starting from 21 or 23 years old with a minimum driving experience of one year.

Due to the threat of theft, car rental agencies do not approve of cash payments, so having a credit card is not superfluous. Exceptions to the rule may be some specific territories, such as islands in Malta or Greece, where it is physically impossible to steal a car. Moreover, there they may rent you a car without presenting a driver's license and credit card.

It is very important to know about such a document as "Collision damage waiver". It will relieve you of many transport troubles, including liability for breakdown or malfunction of the car. Try to ensure that all local taxes, insurance for possible damage to the car, and civil liability insurance to third parties are included in the rental cost. And finally, be careful when choosing a car – its preliminary inspection can also significantly ease your vacation and slightly ease your wallet.
