According to the Association of Social Assistance, thanks to the prefect's order, 600 additional places for the homeless will appear in Paris, and mobile teams tasked with finding them and delivering them to temporary accommodation centers will be strengthened.
In a circular sent to all district police prefectures and the head of the fire brigade, Proust ordered his subordinates to 'pay increased attention, given the unusually low temperatures, to people who have no permanent shelter and live on city streets even in the frost.' Emphasizing that some homeless people have already died from hypothermia, the prefect called on his colleagues to 'take them under their wing if necessary, since the duty of a police officer does not allow leaving a person in danger without assistance.'
