Process of issuing US visas
In Ukraine, a US visa is processed at the Kyiv embassy through in-person submission. The presence of the applicant is required for biometric data collection of all applicants aged 14 to 80.
It is possible to obtain a visa without personal presence if the applicant has a previous US visa stamp, active or expired within 12 calendar months prior to the application, or if the applicant is under 14 or over 80 years old.
The first step is to pay a fee of $160, then the US consular office in Kyiv schedules an interview for the candidate. If the visa officer's decision is positive, the ready visa is issued within a few days.
For submission, you need to prepare the following documents: a foreign passport valid for more than 6 months, 1 color photo 5 x 5 cm, a certificate from official employment, a bank statement with account balance, an invitation from the US side (if available, it will be a plus), documents confirming ties to Ukraine.
Process of obtaining a visa to Canada
Submission of documents for a Canadian visa for citizens of Ukraine takes place at the Canada Visa Application Centre in Lviv and Kyiv, including mandatory biometric data submission and payment of a consular fee ranging from $145 and above. Further processing and issuance of ready visas is carried out at the embassy in Kyiv. Processing time ranges from a few days to 3 weeks.
It should also be noted that electronic applications are currently accepted, but if the response is positive, you need to bring your passport to the Consulate of Canada in Kyiv for the visa to be affixed to your passport.
Required documents for a Canadian visa: a foreign passport valid for more than 6 months, 1 color photo 3.5 x 4.5 cm, a certificate from official employment, a bank statement with account balance, an invitation from the Canadian side (if available), documents confirming movable and immovable property, business, marriage, or children in Ukraine.
As you can see, the document packages for submission to the US and Canada Visa Centers are almost identical, not complicated, and the visa processing itself does not take much time.
