European Parliament promises Britain visa-free travel on a reciprocal basis
As reported by "Russkaya Germaniya", 502 members of the European Parliament voted in favor of the decision to grant Britons visa-free travel on a reciprocal basis in the event of Brexit, 81 voted against, and 29 abstained.
Thus, the United Kingdom will join the list of more than 60 countries that do not need a visa to enter the EU. This rule will apply to business trips, visits to friends and relatives, as well as tourism. Britons will be able to stay in the EU for up to 90 days within a six-month period. However, they will not have the right to work.
If the United Kingdom introduces visas for citizens of at least one EU member state, then "a reciprocal mechanism provided for by EU legislation will be activated," the European Parliament warned. This could lead to the introduction of visas for British citizens. The new law will come into force immediately after Brexit.
Meanwhile, at the end of March, the UK authorities began issuing new passports to citizens without mentioning the European Union on the cover, although the United Kingdom formally remains a member of the EU. According to media reports, during the transition period, documents of various formats will be in circulation – with and without the inscription "European Union," and both options are completely legal.
