Well, the cuisine in Hungary is famous for its culinary delights. Along with delicious food, you should definitely try Hungarian wines at national establishments. If you happen upon a colorful restaurant, you might get to try azu – a winter wine poured from a small hollow pumpkin with a long tube.
Here, everything can be spoken of in superlatives. Just the building of the Hungarian Parliament is something. It was built in the era of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and it was designed by the same architect who built the English Parliament building. The only thing they have in common is the style; both are built in the Neo-Gothic style. You can look at it up close, or cross the Chain Bridge and climb up to the Citadel – there is a panoramic viewing platform offering a breathtaking view.
In fact, the panorama of the flat part of Pest is visible from many vantage points. You can also view it from the Royal Palace. From there, too, there is a wonderful view of the city, the Danube, and the bridges. Bridges are a separate topic in the capital of Hungary; there are many, all interesting. But the most beautiful bridge is the Chain Bridge, which connects the Parliament and Fisherman's Bastion, a favorite spot for tourists. Essentially, it connects two cities – Buda and Pest. This bridge has two pillars, and majestic lions rest on the pillars.
Another place where all tours usually begin is Heroes' Square. A large empty square surrounded by large sculptures of Hungarian heroes. There are 12 of them depicted here, arranged in a semicircle. In the center is a stele with an angel blessing the heroes. From this square you can go to several different places at once. For example, nearby is one of the largest and oldest zoos in Europe, opened in the 19th century. Right next to it are the Széchenyi Baths. People from all over the world come here to relax and be treated in the thermal springs. After all, the springs are not only thermal but also mineral, with healing properties.
Also from Heroes' Square, a five-minute walk away is the beautiful Vajdahunyad Castle. It is interesting for its architecture. The fact is that different sides are built in different styles. In the castle park sits a statue of Anonymous with an open book. You can make a wish near it, and it will certainly come true.
Next to the castle, a large ice rink is flooded, where you can skate if you wish. The main thing is that your head does not spin from the mesmerizing view. On one side is Heroes' Square, on the other a beautiful castle. Just a dream!
