First, the type of diploma you can obtain after studying. Second, the quality and, most importantly, the level of teaching; the cost of studying abroad and its duration. And also – the level of preparation required for admission to an educational institution.
The first thing you will need when studying abroad is the level of language proficiency. It is tested in several ways, and it may vary for different study programs. Be careful about which certificate you will need.
Moreover, do not despair if your language proficiency level is insufficient. Many study programs and especially well-known institutions offer the opportunity to attend language courses or an adaptation program beforehand. After preparation, which will take from 2-3 weeks to six months, you can easily pass the certification test in the chosen language of instruction. And its results will be useful back home as well.
What do they teach abroad?
As a rule, there are no short-term university programs (lasting from several months to 2-3 years) abroad. However, there is an opportunity:
– to study your specialty, get additional education, take a course or several courses (programs often include both lectures and seminars),
– to get an education in a narrow field (e.g., hotel business, service sector, store management),
– or to get a full higher education abroad, a university diploma that will be recognized almost worldwide.
What to expect from studying abroad?
First, difficulties may arise from misunderstanding the place and living conditions. Schoolchildren are often offered accommodation with a host family, or on campus, in a local 'dormitory'. Meals may be included in the final bill, or may be left to the student's discretion.
Second, the language environment leaves its mark.
Third, upon returning to their hometown, many get the most prestigious jobs. The highest level of training and, most importantly, the practical orientation of education (a graduate can actually go and work from day one!) is highly valued by many former foreign students.
