Exhibition 'Wisdom of the Heavens', until February 25, Vienna. At the Vienna Museum of Art History, an exhibition of Greek icons from the collection of Emilios Velimezis has opened. This collection, gathered in various regions of Greece from 1934 to 1946, includes about one hundred icons from the 15th to 19th centuries. London Art Fair, January 17-21. The largest contemporary art fair in Great Britain will be held for the 19th time at the Business Design Centre in London. About one hundred galleries will present their collections of contemporary painting, sculpture, video and photography. This year, visitors will be able to see works by the most famous English abstract artists from the 'Cornish group': Ben Nicholson (1894-1982), Patrick Heron (1920-1999), Barbara Hepworth (1903-1975), as well as graphics by William Scott (1913-1989). International Exhibition 'Green Week', January 13-22, Berlin Since 1924, this international trade fair has been held in Berlin, organized around several related 'green' themes: gardening, landscape design, achievements in agriculture and the food industry. The most popular sections at the exhibition are landscaping and landscape design, and organic food sections, which feature meat products, beer and wine, tea, spices, seafood. Exhibition of contemporary Chinese painting 'Mahjong', until February 18, Hamburg. The Hamburg Kunsthalle is hosting an interesting exhibition of contemporary Chinese art – painting, sculpture, photography – from the Swiss collection of Uli Sigg. This collection includes, in particular, unique works by the first Chinese avant-garde artists of the late 1980s to early 1990s. Exhibition of paintings by Vincent van Gogh, until February 18, Budapest. A large exhibition of works by Van Gogh (1853-1890), dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Budapest Museum of Fine Arts, will run until February 18. The exhibition recreates a broad cultural context of the famous artist's work and is divided into five parts. The first and second parts are devoted to those works of art that had a strong influence on the formation of the artist's unique talent: paintings by Hals and Rembrandt, Daubigny and Millet, as well as a series of Japanese prints. The main part of the composition is 30 works by Vincent van Gogh from European and American museums and private collections. Among them are 'Sorrow', 'Irises', 'Olive Grove' and 'Self-Portrait with Pipe'. Exhibition 'Creative Process: Pablo Palazuelo', until February 18, Barcelona. The Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art (MACBA) is hosting an exhibition of the most 'hyped' contemporary Spanish artist, the 2004 Velázquez Prize winner Pablo Palazuelo. The purpose of this exhibition is to explore periods of the artist's work unknown to the general public. These include the late 1930s and the artist's bold architectural projects, as well as the geometric abstractions of the 1940s. Exhibition 'The Cursed Rib', January 25 - March 27, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. <\/strong> At the end of January, the Museum of Contemporary Art (CAAM) opens an unusual thematic exhibition 'The Cursed Rib', which seriously and ironically discusses the age-old problem of 'the typical male vision of the role of women in this world': woman as a symbol of sinfulness and an object of vain male self-affirmation and demonstration of power. Female (feminist) rebellion and male irony about this rebellion are the poles on which the contrasting composition of the exhibition rests. This fair in Bologna has been held for over 30 years and has an excellent reputation among such 'showcases' of contemporary art. Exhibition 'Once Upon a Time', until March 25, Florence. <\/strong> At the Florentine Gallery of Modern Art, located on the second floor of Palazzo Pitti, a retrospective exhibition of illustrations for the famous fairy tale about Pinocchio called 'Once Upon a Time' has opened. The exhibition presents the best book illustrations for the famous tale – from the first edition of 1883 to the present day, as well as sculptures, posters, and puzzles. Exhibition 'Van Gogh and the Expressionists', until March 4, Amsterdam. The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam has opened a thematic exhibition exploring the influence of the famous Dutch painter's work on the Expressionists – artists of the next generation. This idea is realized in a parallel composition of the exhibition, which features 100 paintings and drawings by Van Gogh himself and Austrian and German Expressionists: Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Wassily Kandinsky, Oskar Kokoschka, and Richard Gerstl. Exhibition 'Painters of Reality', until March 5, Paris. <\/strong> In mid-May, the National Museum of the Orangerie (Le Musee national de l'Orangerie des Tuileries) opened on the Place de la Concorde in Paris after a long renovation. A few months have passed, and the museum's director has prepared an exhibition that symbolically reflects the past, present, and future of the Orangerie. The exhibition 'Painters of Reality' consists of two parts. The first part is an exact 'copy' of the sensational 1934 exhibition of 17th-century French realists (organized by Paul Jamot and Charles Sterling), featuring paintings by Georges de La Tour, the Le Nain brothers, Sébastien Bourdon, Valentin de Boulogne, Nicolas Poussin, and others. It must be said that many of these artists were almost forgotten at the time and were 'rediscovered' thanks to the '34 exhibition. The second part of the exhibition presents works by 20th-century artists – Denis, Picasso, Magritte, Léger, and others. Exhibition "Cyprus: From Aphrodite to Melusine", until March 25, Geneva. The Geneva Museum of Art and History opened the exhibition "From Aphrodite to Melusine", dedicated to two most important epochs in the life of Cyprus – Antiquity and the Middle Ages. The exhibition also has a historical subtitle: "From Antiquity to the reign of the Lusignans". Ancient mythological subjects about Aphrodite are presented in ancient Cypriot vases and sculptures.
