The number of vacancies in the Czech Republic reached a record level
According to published data, in March 227,053 residents of the republic were unemployed (14,400 fewer than in February and 36,500 fewer year-on-year). The average age of officially registered unemployed is 43.2 years.
The reasons for the decline in unemployment were the start of seasonal work in construction, tourism, hospitality, and agriculture. Overall, in 2019, experts expect a stable situation on the labor market and forecast that unemployment will remain at 3% or slightly higher.
As Vinegret.cz notes, in March the highest demand from employers was traditionally for general laborers in manufacturing and construction, cooks, warehouse workers, truck drivers, fitters, welders, assemblers, and other technical specialists.
The region with the lowest unemployment was Prague (1.9%), and the highest was the Moravian-Silesian and Ústí nad Labem regions (4.6%).
