Smoking ban lifted in Geneva

The reason for lifting the ban was that this law had not been approved by the cantonal parliament before it was approved by the government. Violators were fined amounts from $90 to $900, with some of them filing lawsuits challenging the legality of the fine.

According to Lenta.ru, 80% of Geneva residents voted in favor of the smoking ban in February 2008. Last Sunday, Swiss from Zurich and Basel voted for the same measures.
