India, China, and South Korea have become the main suppliers of students to the US. Among US regions, California (84,800), New York (69,844), and Texas (51,824 students) lead in the number of foreign students.
New York (54,861) and Los Angeles (38,825 students) hold the lead among cities, while among universities, the University of Southern California (7,189), New York University (6,404), and Columbia University (6,297 foreign students) are the top.
The most popular disciplines among foreign students are business and management (20% of the total number of students) and engineering (17%).
As Parta.org notes, education exports brought $15.5 billion to the US economy.
