According to Travel, other changes include: in five-star hotels, staff must be present at the front desk 24 hours a day; laundry and dry cleaning must be completed within 12 hours of ordering; a cooled minibar is now mandatory. In 3-, 4-, and 5-star hotels, debit cards must also be accepted in addition to credit cards.
If the above requirements are not met, the status of hotels may be downgraded.
It should be noted that the Swedish hotel classification system was introduced in 2003 and is voluntary. Nevertheless, most hotels consider it necessary to undergo certification and display a sign with the 'H' symbol and stars on a blue background, indicating the hotel's class according to the classification of Sveriges Hotell & Restaurang företagare.
