During the meeting, the parties, in particular, agreed to take measures to prepare documents by September 1, 2003, for submitting the treaty between Ukraine and Russia on the Ukrainian-Russian state border for ratification to the parliaments of both countries.
When discussing issues of combating illegal migration, the interest of both countries in taking effective measures aimed at combating this negative phenomenon was noted, as well as the need to resolve the problem of illegal migration at the bilateral level as soon as possible. In this regard, it was agreed that by November 1, 2003, bilateral negotiations will be held to discuss the draft agreement on the reception and transfer of persons who are illegally present in the territories of both states (readmission agreement), and proposals will be prepared on the timing of signing this document.
