Recall that on August 8, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the relevant agreement between the governments of Ukraine and Poland. The provisions in the document abolish fees for national long-term visas for citizens of Ukraine and Poland who can stay on the territory of the other state for three months, but not more than one year. Previously, Ukraine signed similar agreements with Latvia, Lithuania, and Slovakia.
Also, starting September, Cyprus will begin issuing free electronic visas to Ukrainians. As Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Hryshchenko wrote on his Twitter: “The first positive of the new working season – we reached a principled agreement on liberalizing the visa regime with Cyprus. The essence of the simplification: documents for a single-entry national visa will be submitted online. No need to go to the embassy, the visa becomes electronic and free, so approximately from September it will be easier to travel to another European Union state,” Hryshchenko said.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “this system can be used to obtain a single-entry visa for a stay of no more than 90 days. In other cases, Ukrainian citizens will have to use the standard procedure, that is, submit the relevant package of documents to the Consular Department of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Ukraine.”
Recall that until 2004, Ukrainians could get a free visa at the international airport of Larnaca, but after Cyprus joined the EU, this practice was abolished.
