Last year, 202,000 foreigners applied for permission to work in Poland
At the end of last year, the unemployment rate in Poland was 6.6%. As reported by Polskie Radio, this was announced by the Central Statistical Office of Poland. Compared to November 2017, unemployment in December was 0.1% higher. Recall that in 2016, unemployment in Poland was at 8.2%.
The unemployment rate in Poland is systematically falling. Therefore, employers are looking for workers, offering increasingly better working conditions, says Andrzej Kubisiak, a labor market expert: "Today in Poland there are already 20 poviats across the country where the unemployment rate is below 3%, that is, below the natural level. This shows that in many places in Poland there is a shortage of labor. Entrepreneurs are saving the situation by hiring foreigners to avoid interrupting production and continue fulfilling contracts."
Until now, the vast majority of foreigners working in Poland were from Ukraine, but statistical data indicate that this may change. According to the expert, a huge wave of labor migrants from Ukraine paved the way for representatives of other nationalities. Last year, applications for permission to stay in Poland were submitted by 98% more Belarusians and 95% more citizens of India, compared to 2016.
