The top ten also included Wrocław University of Technology and Warsaw University of Technology, the Stanisław Staszic Academy of Mining and Metallurgy in Krakow, the University of Wrocław, medical universities in Warsaw and Gdańsk, as well as the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.<\/p>
For the second year in a row, the top three among private universities in Poland remains unchanged. First place went to the Leon Koźmiński Academy in Warsaw, second to the University of Social Psychology, and third to the Polish-Japanese Academy of Computer Technology in Warsaw.<\/p>
According to the ranking, the best technical university is Warsaw University of Technology, and the best economics university is the Warsaw School of Economics. First place among medical universities was taken by the Collegium Medicum of Jagiellonian University.<\/p>
The University of Warsaw was founded in 1816. During its existence, the institution was closed several times. This happened after the November and January uprisings, as well as during World War II.<\/p>
Currently, the University of Warsaw is the largest higher education institution in Poland. Here, more than 46,000 students 'gnaw the granite of science'.<\/p>
Every year the university improves its positions in world rankings. In the QS World University Rankings for 2014\/2015, the institution ranked 344th, which is the best result among Polish universities.<\/p>
The University of Warsaw has produced 5 Nobel laureates: Henryk Sienkiewicz, Czesław Miłosz, Leonid Hurwicz, Józef Rotblat, and Menachem Begin.<\/p>
