Halloween Canceled in San Francisco County

In recent years, in the Castro, where the largest public processions in San Francisco took place, incidents of violence have become more frequent. In particular, in 2002, five people were stabbed, in 2004 a person with a chainsaw walked through the crowd, and in 2006, nine people were shot in a street fight.

Instead of coming to the Castro District, the police advised people to stay home for the holiday or go to other areas of the city. Those who do not heed the advice will have to face an increased police patrol, closed restaurants and bars, sobriety checkpoints, and the absence of city transport after 8:30 p.m.
