According to the CPO, the range of fakes was wide: diplomas of higher education from various universities, marriage certificates, diplomas of candidates and doctors of sciences, masters, specialists, bachelors, certificates of graduation from technical schools, secondary school certificates, etc. Moreover, each type of document was made according to samples from different years, starting from the 70s of the last century, from different republics of the former Soviet Union or current countries of the near abroad.
Also, the criminals used fake seals of Ukrainian and foreign institutions, various forms, stamps, and addenda. As a result of operational measures, the address of the office was identified where illegal production was carried out and all the necessary equipment was stored – high-quality scanners, printers, a device for making the most accurate copies of seals. According to one of the organizers of the underground workshop, with the help of this equipment, a seal of any degree of complexity could be made in half an hour.
Law enforcement officers seized more than five thousand forms of various types, more than 500 seals and clichés. In the apartment of one of the group members, approximately $8,500 was found. The detainees are in the Darnytsia district police department.
It is known that they sold their goods at prices from $200 to $2,000 per document, depending on demand and the complexity of the production process. For example, a modern master's degree in medicine cost $800. Among the criminals' clients were not only Kyiv residents; residents of many regions of Ukraine and even foreigners used their services. The exact scale of the spread of fakes has not yet been established.
A criminal case has been opened against the detainees under Article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (forgery of documents, seals, stamps and forms, their sale, use of forged documents), which provides for up to five years of restriction or imprisonment.
