The total number of participants will be at least 40-50 people. Guests from Belarus and Russia are expected, who have already confirmed their participation in the Cup. Most contenders for the main trophy are males of different age categories: both young talents of model car racing who want to show their skills to a wide audience, and experienced 'veterans' who have something to share with the youth.
The Cup will feature radio-controlled model cars of different classes in 1:8 and 1:10 scale with internal combustion engines and electric drives. Some electric models can reach speeds of up to 160 km/h!
The initiator of the competition is the Kyiv club 'Modelist' at the 'Small Air Academy'. It is here that Kyiv kids take their first steps in model car racing. The club invites both schoolchildren from 10 years old and older kids, who within a year and a half manage not only to fall in love with model car racing but also achieve serious success.
'Model car racing competitions are interesting for both children and adults, families come, they bring friends,' says Igor Duzhenko, head of the Kyiv club 'Modelist'. 'When I see how the eyes of adult men and little kids light up and with what excitement they launch their model at the start, I get the incentive to continue working.'
The event sponsor is TM Duracell, known for supporting model car racing. At the end of last year, the brand held the 'Duracell Rally of 10-times Power' – races among radio-controlled cars, in which hundreds of children from different regions of Ukraine took part.
