Ahead of the event, the Ministry of Absorption has issued a special postcard for tourists, published in five languages (Russian, English, French, Spanish and Hebrew) with a total print run of 30,000 copies. The postcard invites tourists to contact an information center specially created for the event. Ministry workers will try to hand out the postcard to tourists as soon as they land at Ben-Gurion Airport. In addition, in accordance with an agreement reached in negotiations between the ministry's director general, Ms. Mirela Gal, and the hotel association, the postcards will also be distributed in hotels where tourists arriving for the holidays are staying.
Minister of Absorption Tzipi Livni stated: "The dramatic decrease in the number of repatriates who came to Israel this year forces us to do everything in our power to stimulate repatriation, which, in particular, led to this information campaign. We take into account the fact that due to security problems recently, most of those who will come for the holidays are Jews. Naturally, we view these tourists as potential repatriates and want to give them the opportunity to learn everything they need about repatriation. We are interested in making repatriation possible for such tourists and unobtrusively providing them with information during their stay in Israel."
