The average cost of a home in the country in June was €273,392. In December 2007, a home cost on average €287,887, and in June 2007 – €302,605. Thus, over the year, housing prices in Ireland fell by 9.7%, and in the first half of 2008 – by 5%.
As Prian.ru notes citing The Irish Times, the largest decline occurred in May – in that month, prices dropped by 1.1% at once. The new home market is suffering the most, with prices falling by 6.1% in the first half of 2008 compared to a decrease of 3.9% in the secondary housing market.
