The main reason for the outflow of European tourists from the eurozone is said to be the high cost of the euro and the pound, as well as economic problems, reports Travel.ru. More and more European tourists prefer to vacation in Eastern European countries, Turkey and Egypt. For example, hotel bookings in Budapest increased by 33%, in Krakow by 20%, while in Amsterdam and Rome they fell by 18% and 12% respectively.
The pressure on the Western European market is forcing hotels to try to lower prices in order not to lose remaining tourists. According to experts' forecasts, the strengthening of the euro next year will cause an increase in hotel accommodation prices of up to 15%, but many hotels will try to stay within 8%, writes the English Travelweekly.
