Europe to Choose 'Greenest' Capital

The main prize will go to the city that not only currently demonstrates concern for environmental protection, but also develops long-term ecological plans.

According to ITAR-TASS, the main criteria are the state of public transport, the presence of green areas in residential neighborhoods, air quality, waste disposal methods, and contribution to the fight against global climate change.

In particular, Copenhagen is among the contenders, with wind turbines installed around it. The city is also famous for its huge number of cyclists and all the conditions for their movement. Bicycle path markings appeared in the Danish capital as early as 1901.
