Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Bohuslav Sobotka
However, as the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic noted, the system of granting long-term visas for employment purposes, in particular to citizens of Ukraine, works poorly in Czechia.
"The most real barrier today is the functioning of the visa system with Ukraine, which is essentially completely dysfunctional. The government will soon consider a draft law that will allow employers seeking labor in Ukraine to declare their needs, thus moving the system forward," noted Bohuslav Sobotka. He also added that Czechia requires an active and regulated migration policy.
The Czech economy is among the most successful in the European Union, but a shortage of skilled labor may become a brake on its future. The problem should be solved by improving technical education, simplifying employment of qualified foreign workers, including from Ukraine, and developing infrastructure.
