Naomi Ben-Ami was born in 1960 in the USSR and immigrated to Israel with her family in 1973. After graduating from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem (majoring in international relations), she began working at the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1990-1992, she worked as an employee of the commercial department of the Israeli Embassy in Lisbon (Portugal). In 1992-1994, she was the second secretary of the Israeli Embassy in Riga (Latvia). For a year she served as charge d'affaires ad interim of Israel in that country, for which in 1993 she received the distinction "Best MFA Employee". In 1996-2000, she was an adviser on political affairs at the Israeli Embassy in Moscow. In 2001, she was an adviser to the department for political planning at the Israeli MFA. In 2002-2003, she was an adviser to the department for economic cooperation at the Israeli MFA. She speaks Hebrew, English, Russian, and French. She is married and has two children.
Currently, the Israeli diplomatic mission in Kiev is headed by Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Israel to Ukraine and Moldova Anna Azari, 44, who was appointed to this position in 1999.
