Production of the updated Ravon R4 has started in Uzbekistan
The new Ravon is copied from the American old-version Cobalt, with differences purely external and almost imperceptible. The new Uzbek R4 is equipped with a gasoline engine producing 105 hp. There are two transmissions: a five-speed manual and a six-speed automatic. It features hydraulic power steering, two airbags, ABS, heated seats, and a modern audio system with wireless Bluetooth. The approximate price of the new Uzbek sedan in Russia is about 500,000 rubles for the base trim.
As reported by the site Ravon-r4-cobalt.ru, recently experts of the Russian car market compiled a list of budget cars costing no more than 500,000 rubles. Second place in the ranking was taken by the Ravon R2 at 439,000 rubles. Third place was awarded to the "younger brother" of the silver medalist – the Ravon R4 at 499,000 rubles.
In 2016, global sales of the Ravon R2 and Ravon Matiz amounted to 22,400 and 17,600 units respectively. Thus, both city cars produced by GM Uzbekistan entered the global top 50 ranking of the most popular A-class models. The Ravon R2 is in 43rd place, the Ravon Matiz in 47th. Sales of the Ravon R2, developed on the basis of the previous-generation Chevrolet Spark, grew more than 2.5 times compared to 2015. Demand for the Ravon Matiz increased much more significantly – by 533%.
Ravon (pronounced as Ravon) is the national automotive company of Uzbekistan, founded in 2015. It is the successor of UzDaewooAuto and a partner of GM Uzbekistan. Company representatives explained that the word RAVON is an abbreviation for "Reliable Active Vehicle On Road." Also, the word Ravon translates from Uzbek as "bright, clean, even, straight road" or "easy path."
