Ukrainian names main drawback of life in France and criticizes police

Ukrainian Vilen Avetian, who lives in Nice, France, named security and the work of the police as the main drawbacks of life in the country. According to him, law enforcement officers are hard to see during conflicts in public places, and he himself would not dare to let his younger sister go out alone in the evening. The Ukrainian spoke about this in his Instagram.

What the Ukrainian is unhappy with in France

Vilen Avetian said that he personally does not encounter problems because of his appearance. At the same time, he suggested that a person with a Slavic appearance may feel more vulnerable. This is the blogger's opinion, and not a generalized assessment of the situation for all Ukrainians living in the country.

What outrages him most is the work of the local police. According to the Ukrainian, law enforcement officers pay more attention to administrative matters, such as parking or order in parks, than to safety on the streets. He also claims that police officers are rarely seen during provocations in public places.

As an example, Avetian recalled a visit by his friend. They wanted to watch the sunset from an observation deck in Nice, but, according to him, the police did not allow them to pass there. In another case, the man claims, unknown persons broke glass and wounded a Ukrainian woman, and law enforcement officers did not properly investigate the incident.

At the same time, Avetian did not provide statistical data that would confirm his claims about security and the work of the police.

How Avetian compared security in France and Ukraine

The Ukrainian compared his own sense of security in France and in Ukraine, which is in a state of war. According to him, his teenage sister can go to the store by herself in the evening in Ukraine, whereas in France he would not want to let her go anywhere alone.

“Even now, during the war in Ukraine, my teenage sister can safely go to the store by herself in the evening. When she was visiting me in France on vacation, I didn’t even think about sending her anywhere alone in the evening,” Avetian said.

Comments under the video were divided. Some users shared negative experiences related to thefts and contacts with the police.

One user wrote: “I have lived in France for four years and nothing like this.”

Some commentators noted that the situation may differ depending on the city and region.

Thus, Avetian's words reflect his personal experience and impressions, but by themselves do not provide a general assessment of the level of security in France.
