"The eastern border is being strengthened due to increased flows of illegal migration in recent years. In particular, many Chinese citizens arrive in Russia, who then illegally enter Ukraine and further West in search of better living conditions," he said. He also noted that Ukraine "seeks to create a barrier to illegal migration on the border."
Anatoly Belyaev added that in this regard, the density of state border protection in the East will increase. "The strengthening and equipping of crossings through the state border on the eastern section is under the control of the President of Ukraine," he emphasized. In the future, Belyaev reported, there is a task to move to joint customs and border service with the Russian side on the Ukrainian-Russian border.
Anatoly Belyaev also said that in parallel with the tightening of state border crossing for illegal migrants, the procedure for crossing the border is being simplified for law-abiding citizens. In particular, he noted, children under 16 can travel from Russia to Ukraine using a birth certificate, accompanied by parents. In addition, no additional citizenship inserts are needed for the child's birth certificate.
